RETAINING WALL &

SAND STONE PATH

The owner of this property wanted me to define the house from the garden with a retaining brick wall.

I used a Mardale brick which matched the bricks in the chimney pier.  The width of the wall all the way around the house was 4ft at its narrowest points allowing plenty of room for a 600 mm sand stone path.  The differences in ground levels required the wall to be a height of 18 inches.  As this was quite a small wall a ruble and pea shingle drainage system was used and then back filled with top soil ready for turfing.

The turf was graded out to the highest points of the garden to level up the lawn to the new work.

The terrace adjoining the house to the annex was in need of repair, loose slabs were relaid properly and the whole area was re-pointed at the same time as the new path thus keeping the pointing the same throughout the property.

Another quality installation from Paragon.
